Congratulations to Atteris’ Subsea and Pipeline Engineer, Matt Moore, who was successfully voted in as the 2016 / 2017 Chair of SUT’s YES! committee. As well as focusing on the aims of YES! Matt will be looking at the future for our industry’s young professionals. Envisaging tighter integration with local universities and industry, Matt hopes this will inspire more students to make this their chosen career path. Through a variety of technical and social events organised by YES!, Matt hopes to create opportunities for networking and professional development outside of the workplace. Matt also looks to develop relationships with other YES! committees around the world, so that a vehicle for the global networking of likeminded young professionals can be realised within the underwater technology community that serves our industries.
YES! (Young Engineers and Scientists!) is a sub-committee of the SUT (Society for Underwater Technology) Perth Branch which was formed in June 2013. This committee was formed specifically to accommodate young engineers and scientists who typically have less than 5 years’ experience in the subsea industry, as well as students nearing the completion of their degrees.
SUT YES! aims to:
- Create awareness of the subsea industry amongst young engineers and scientists
- Develop young engineers and scientists within the subsea industry
- Provide networking opportunities to build relationships amongst young engineers and scientists within the subsea industry.
